Protesters from the anti-Zionist Jewish group Jewish Voice for Peace shut down the Manhattan Bridge for several hours on Sunday. The demonstration was in support of a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war and began at 2 p.m. with a large police presence. The protesters blocked off the Manhattan entrance to the bridge, causing traffic to be diverted. By 3 p.m., demonstrators were sitting in the middle of the entrance ramp, waving Palestinian flags and chanting for Gaza. The protest was peaceful and the bridge reopened around 5:30 p.m. The police did not report any arrests.
