Police in Texas are investigating a shooting incident in Austin that resulted in the death of a suspect and injuries to three bystanders. The incident took place at a bar in the city’s entertainment district late Saturday night.

According to Interim Police Chief Robin Henderson, officers were alerted to a man with a firearm inside the bar. When they approached the suspect, he pulled out the firearm and pointed it at the officers and bar patrons. As a result, three officers fired at the suspect, who was shot multiple times and later died. It is still unclear who injured the bystanders, but Henderson mentioned that there are indications that the suspect also fired his gun.

Henderson stated that one bystander sustained critical injuries, while the other two had injuries that were not life-threatening. In line with department protocol, the three officers involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative duty. Additionally, video footage from their body cameras will be released within 10 business days.
