The University of Virginia’s School of Education and Human Development has been recognized for offering one of the country’s best online graduate education programs. In the U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 Best Online Programs rankings, the school secured the second spot among more than 300 schools, a significant jump of 18 spots from the previous year. The rankings are based on five categories: engagement, peer assessment, faculty credentials and training, services and technologies, and student excellence.

In addition to the overall recognition, three individual online graduate programs from the Education School landed in the top five nationally. The school was also named the No. 1 online Master of Education program for veterans, showcasing the program quality and financial benefits to veterans and active service members.

Catherine Brighton, senior associate dean for academic programs and student affairs, highlighted the importance of offering a high-quality online learning experience for the students. She emphasized that the faculty and staff work hard to create a supportive, intentional, and rigorous environment that builds community for the students while setting them up for success after graduation.
