J., a successful entrepreneur and business leader, has deep ties to his alma mater, Virginia Tech. After graduating in 1987 with a degree in agricultural economics, J. went on to start Carry-On Trailer, a company that now has seven plants in six states and employs over 1,200 people. He is also the executive chairman of Vehicle Accessory Inc., a major supplier of vehicle accessories with over 1,000 employees in the US and Canada.

In addition to his professional success, J. is heavily involved in giving back to Virginia Tech. He is a Foremost Benefactor of the university and a member of the Ut Prosim Society of donors. J. also serves as a professor of practice for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, where he is a member of the Advisory Board and has received the Outstanding Alumni Leadership Award. He is a tri-chair of the Boundless Impact Campaign Steering Committee and has served as chairman of the Corps of Cadets Alumni Board.

J. has a strong military background, having served in the Virginia Army National Guard for nine years after earning a commission as a second lieutenant through Virginia Tech’s Corps of Cadets. He is married to Renae Pearson, also a Virginia Tech alum, and has two children who have followed in their parents’ footsteps by attending the university.

Overall, J. is a dedicated alumnus who continues to make a significant impact in both the business world and his community, embodying the spirit of Ut Prosim – That I May Serve.
