President Joe Biden criticized former President Donald Trump’s connection to Project 2025, a controversial plan created by The Heritage Foundation to reshape the executive branch for the next conservative president. The project, known as the 2025 Presidential Transition Project, includes a detailed transition plan and policy agenda focused on issues like abortion. Biden warned that Project 2025 would give Trump too much power and endanger American democracy.
Biden’s remarks come as his campaign faces criticism following a debate with Trump, with some Democrats calling for him to drop out of the race. Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts praised a recent Supreme Court ruling and hinted at a “second American Revolution” in support of the conservative project. Trump attempted to distance himself from Project 2025, claiming he knew nothing about it, but Biden and his campaign quickly pushed back, accusing Trump of lying and warning of the potential dangers of the project.
Democrats have raised concerns about Project 2025’s plans to overhaul government agencies, replace civil servants with political appointees, and reverse progressive policies. Rep. Jasmine Crockett described it as a “playbook for authoritarianism.” Overall, Biden and other Democrats see Project 2025 as a threat to American democracy and are pushing back against Trump’s connections to the controversial plan.
