Multiple fire units responded to a large industrial fire on the 500 block of West Danville St. in South Hill, Virginia on Saturday, July 6. The fire started at 1:55 p.m. and as of 5 p.m., it was reported to be 75% contained. The South Hill Volunteer Fire Department is recommending a voluntary evacuation within a half-mile radius of the fire. Traveling in the area is also advised against. The cause of the fire has not been released by officials.
Video footage captured by Ken Currin shows fire units working to extinguish the flames on West Danville Street. The fire is expected to have units on the scene for an additional eight to 10 hours. Efforts are being made to contain the industrial fire that has caused concern among residents in the area.
