West Virginia’s best-selling beer in 2024 has been revealed, and it’s not Bud Light or Modelo, which outsold Bud Light nationwide last year. According to data from Bump Williams Consulting (BWC), the top five beers in terms of dollar sales in West Virginia grocery stores are Michelob ULTRA, Bud Light, Miller Lite, Coors Light, and Natural Light. Bud Light was the only one in the top five that saw a decline in sales, with Michelob ULTRA leading the pack with a 9.3% growth in sales.

Additionally, Modelo Especial and Twisted Tea made their way into the top five list when considering the total increase in sales dollars over the last 12 months in West Virginia. The top five new brands that have arrived in West Virginia grocery stores also included flavored drinks such as Beast Unleashed Mix Pack, Truly Hard Seltzer Unruly/Party Mix Packs, Nasty Beast Hard Tea Mix Pack, Hard Mtn Dew Mix Pack, and Captain Morgan Sliced Assorted.

These rankings were based on data collected between January 1, 2024, and July 6, 2024, in West Virginia grocery stores. The rising popularity of flavored drinks and the varying sales trends among different beer brands reflect the changing preferences of consumers in the state. It will be interesting to see how these trends continue to evolve in the coming months.
