The Library of Virginia in Richmond will be hosting a closing celebration for its exhibit “Indigenous Perspectives” featuring performances and displays from tribal representatives. The event will take place on Friday, Aug. 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. and will include a drumming circle, dancing, demonstrations of traditional crafts, and Indigenous foods from the Hungry Hungry Arrow food truck.
The exhibit celebrates Virginia’s 11 federally and state-recognized tribes and will give attendees the opportunity to experience and learn about Indigenous culture and traditions. The event is free to attend and no registration is required. Limited free parking is available underneath the library at 800 East Broad Street.
The Library of Virginia’s mobile van will also be heading to the Goochland branch of the Pamunkey Regional Library. The exhibit will run through Aug. 17 in the library’s Exhibition Gallery and Lobby, showcasing the rich history and contributions of Virginia’s Indigenous people.
