Michele Fiore faces charges for alleged involvement in Nevada fallen officer charity scheme

Michele Fiore, a former Las Vegas councilwoman, assembly member, and current Nevada judge, has been federally charged with wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with an alleged charity fraud scheme. Prosecutors claim she pocketed over $70,000 in donations intended to honor fallen officers by building a statue in their memory. Fiore allegedly used the funds for personal expenses including political fundraising bills, rent, and her daughter’s wedding, instead of creating the promised statue.

Fiore, known for being a conservative firebrand and gun-rights advocate, faces up to 20 years in prison on each felony count if convicted. She is represented by a Las Vegas-based attorney and was expected to enter a plea on the charges. The FBI Las Vegas Field Office is investigating the case, which remains open.

The indictment alleges that Fiore solicited donations under the false pretense that 100% of the contributions would go towards building the statue. However, she allegedly misused the donations for personal gain, failing to honor the fallen officers as promised. This case has sparked outrage and disappointment within the community, as Fiore held positions of trust within the state government. Ultimately, the legal process will determine the consequences for Fiore’s actions and provide justice for those affected by the alleged charity fraud scheme.
