Virginia resident Keith Kennedy was surprised to discover that his photograph was being used in a political mailer for a candidate with the same name running for the Wyoming Senate. The glossy postcard, promoting Keith Kennedy of Wyoming for Senate District 10, wrongly labeled him as a state senator. The mailer, funded by a Texas-based political action committee called Make Liberty Win, endorsed Kennedy as the “ONLY 100% pro-gun candidate” in the race and contained inaccurate information about early voting dates and the incumbent for the position.
Make Liberty Win, which aims to elect pro-liberty state legislators, has been sending similar mailers supporting candidates aligned with the hard-line Wyoming Freedom Caucus across the state. The organization operates as a hybrid PAC and has raised significant amounts of money, mostly from out-of-state donors. Despite its efforts to influence Wyoming voters, some candidates have raised concerns about the misleading claims and errors in the PAC’s materials.
In response to the mailers, incumbent candidates and political newcomers have expressed frustration with the PAC’s tactics and misinformation. Some candidates, like Rep. Tony Niemiec and candidate Christopher Dresang, question the accuracy of the claims made in the mailers, while others, like challenger Marlene Brady and Robert Hendry, have contested the “100% pro-gun” messaging.
Make Liberty Win’s aggressive campaign strategy has caused confusion among voters, with some candidates criticizing the organization for misrepresenting their positions and voting records. As the Wyoming primary election approaches, the PAC’s efforts to influence voter opinions have sparked controversy and raised questions about the accuracy of its messaging.
