US presidential candidate Donald Trump made false accusations against election rival Kamala Harris during a speech at a religious convention in southern Florida. Trump accused Harris of being anti-Semitic and planning to allow the murder of newborn babies, despite her being married to a Jewish man. Many of Trump’s attacks on Harris were unfounded and lacked evidence.
During the hour-long speech, Trump also made baseless claims about the Justice Department and FBI targeting Christians and anti-abortion activists for their beliefs. He accused Harris of wanting to give children chemical castration drugs and falsely claimed she would support executing newborn babies. Trump also called Harris a “bum” and a failed vice president.
Democrats have criticized Trump for his fear of debating Harris and have accused him of being afraid to face her on a debate stage. Former President Barack Obama voiced support for Harris as polls showed her gaining ground on Trump. As the first female and first Black and South Asian vice president, Harris has emphasized the importance of protecting freedoms in US society.
Trump’s rhetoric against Harris has been seen as divisive and inaccurate. He is facing challenges in the upcoming election against a younger opponent and is under pressure to address his controversial statements and campaign strategies. Harris continues to build momentum in her bid to become the first female president in US history.
