The Lynchburg Museum is excited to announce the opening of a new exhibit titled ‘500: Miles: Fifty Years of Running the Virginia 10 Miler’ in celebration of the race’s 50th anniversary. The exhibit will feature artifacts from the race’s history, including official race shirts from each year, and highlight the event’s organizers and participants who have made it a lasting success since 1974. The exhibit will open for First Fridays starting on Aug. 2 at the Lynchburg Museum.
In addition to the exhibit, the Lynchburg Museum will also be hosting Bret Boman and Lesley McPhatter for a book signing event on Sept. 6 for their new book, ‘The Virginia 10 Miler- Fifty Years and Still Running.’ The book focuses on the history of the race and how it has become a nationally recognized event that attracts runners from all over the world.
The 50th running of the Virginia 10 Miler will take place on Saturday, Sept. 28. Those interested can visit Virginia10Miler.com to register for the race or find more information. This exhibit and book signing are a great way to honor the history and legacy of the Virginia 10 Miler, which has become a beloved event in the Lynchburg community for the past fifty years.
