The Pulaski County Board of Supervisors in Virginia has announced the creation of the Pulaski County Sports Tourism & Entertainment Authority to manage the county’s sports tourism and entertainment facilities. The purpose of this authority is to promote sports tourism within Pulaski County and to optimize the county’s sports and entertainment assets for the benefit of both citizens and the business community.
Chair of the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors, Laura Walters, stated that the exponential growth of sports and entertainment assets in the county calls for a specialized and strategic focus to maximize their potential benefits. The establishment of this authority aims to generate greater returns for the county, provide a better experience for citizens, boost demand for hospitality and tourism industries, and support small businesses and retail operations.
The Pulaski County Sports Tourism & Entertainment Authority will be responsible for managing sports assets, serving as the main point of contact for sports tourism activities, and overseeing future public and private investments in the area. With the potential addition of one of Virginia’s largest indoor sportsplexes and expo centers, the authority believes that sports tourism presents a significant opportunity for the county to capture a larger market share.
The authority is composed of six members from various organizations including Virginia Tech, Radford University, and local businesses. The establishment of the Pulaski County Sports Tourism & Entertainment Authority is seen as a strategic move to capitalize on the county’s sports and entertainment assets and drive economic growth through sports tourism.
