Chesterfield fire displaces 4 individuals and 20 animals

A fire in Chesterfield, Virginia displaced four people and approximately 20 animals on Saturday afternoon. Firefighters arrived on the scene around 4:30 p.m. to find fire coming from the front attic area of a 2-story home on Donegal Drive. Due to the home’s location and lack of nearby fire hydrants, crews had to operate off tanker trucks to extinguish the blaze, which took about 30 minutes to get under control. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but firefighters rescued multiple animals as the home also served as an animal rehabilitation facility.

The Red Cross is now providing assistance to those displaced by the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The incident occurred in the 12400 block of Donegal Drive in Chesterfield. Copyright 2024 WWBT. All rights reserved.
