US Court Releases 60 Sealed Documents on Jeffrey Epstein
A US court has released 60 previously sealed documents related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, following a ruling by Judge Loretta Preska in December. The documents, released as part of Virginia Giuffre’s 2015 civil lawsuit against Epstein’s former lover Ghislaine Maxwell, contain legal arguments and interviews.
Giuffre settled a sexual assault lawsuit against Prince Andrew for $12 million in 2022, and claims to have been sex-trafficked to him and other men, including two respected politicians. Prince Andrew denies these claims, as does Buckingham Palace. The documents also reference other figures like Michael Jackson, Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Stephen Hawking, Sir Richard Branson, Harvey Weinstein, and David Copperfield.
The released files also hint at celebrities, politicians, and philanthropists who associated with Epstein, but were not necessarily accused of wrongdoing. Johanna Sjoberg, another alleged victim of Epstein, mentions encounters with Prince Andrew, Michael Jackson, and David Copperfield. Sjoberg also details interactions with Clinton and Hawking in the documents.
The documents also include claims of sex tapes involving Clinton, Prince Andrew, and Branson, but a New Yorker article from 2019 reported that these tapes were invented to draw attention to Epstein’s behavior. Separate evidence from Epstein accuser Sarah Ransome also mentions the involvement of Clinton, Prince Andrew, and Branson in sex tapes.
Overall, the released documents shed light on the connections Epstein had with various high-profile individuals, raising questions and controversies around their associations with the late sex offender. The documents also highlight the ongoing legal battles and accusations surrounding Epstein’s extensive network of victims and famous acquaintances.
