Margaret A. “Peggy” Stafford, a beloved former teacher and devoted wife, passed away at her home in Virginia Beach after a courageous battle with cancer. Peggy, born in Massachusetts in 1952, earned degrees in home economics and education, and spent 34 years teaching in Maryland before retiring in 2008.

Peggy was instrumental in establishing various programs at the schools where she taught, including the child development program and fashion merchandising curriculum at Westlake High School. She was known for her ability to connect with even the most challenging students and was recognized for her leadership in expanding opportunities for students.

In 2001, Peggy married the love of her life, Jim Stafford, and they enjoyed traveling in their RV and visiting their hometowns in New England. Jim was by Peggy’s side as her primary caregiver during her illness, demonstrating the depth of their love and commitment to each other.

Peggy was not only a talented educator but also a skilled seamstress, baker, floral arranger, and woodworker. She approached everything she did with meticulous attention to detail and a strong work ethic instilled by her upbringing on a dairy farm.

In addition to her husband, Peggy is survived by her four cat children and her close friend Kathy Perriello. In honor of Peggy’s memory, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Peggy Stafford will be remembered for her dedication to her students, her love of life, and her unwavering faith in God. Her legacy of kindness, humor, and hard work will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
