Virginia Tech lacrosse head coach Kristen Skiera announced Molly Dunphey as the new assistant coach for the program. Dunphey, a former player for the Hokies, had a successful collegiate career at Villanova before returning to her alma mater. She excelled as a defender, contributing to a strong defense that allowed just 11.06 goals per game. At Villanova, Dunphey served as team captain in her senior season and helped lead the team to an improved win total.
Coach Skiera expressed her excitement at having Dunphey join the coaching staff, praising her work ethic, knowledge of the game, communication skills, and leadership abilities. Under Dunphey’s guidance, the Hokies had a successful 2024 season, achieving a third consecutive .500-or-better record and holding opponents to low scoring totals.
Dunphey expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to return to Virginia Tech and work with the team as they continue to build on their recent successes. She is eager to be a part of the bright future ahead for the program and help lead the team to even greater achievements. With Dunphey’s experience as a player and her dedication to the program’s success, the Hokies are poised for continued growth and success in the seasons to come.
