After a rainy start, Paris swelters in searing heat during Olympic Games

Sports fans in Paris are feeling the heat as they attend Olympic events and gather at fan zones around the city. The French capital is experiencing scorching temperatures and cloudless skies, with the mercury expected to reach a high of 36°C on Tuesday, according to Meteo France. This hot weather is not just impacting athletes competing in the games, but also spectators, tourists, and Parisian residents.

In response to the soaring temperatures, Meteo France has recommended that people restrict outdoor activities during the hottest hours, stay hydrated, wear hats, and use spray bottles to cool down. To help combat the heat, the Paris regional train and metro operator Île-de-France Mobilités announced that they will be distributing two million bottles of water at over 70 train stations, stops, and bus stations throughout the city. This initiative aims to provide relief to the millions of people attending the Olympic Games.

This comes after a rainy start to the 2024 Olympic Games, which forced some competitions to be postponed. However, the weather has since improved, leading to clear skies and high temperatures. As sports fans continue to brave the heat while cheering on their favorite athletes, staying cool and hydrated will be key to enjoying the games in the blistering Parisian sun.
