Liberty University is facing a lawsuit for allegedly firing an employee after she disclosed her identity as a trans woman. The American Civil Liberties Union of Virginia and law firm Butler Curwood filed the lawsuit on behalf of Ellenor Zinski, claiming she was terminated in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Liberty University has not commented on the matter. The ACLU stated that Zinski received positive feedback before notifying HR of her identity, but was later terminated for “denying biological and chromosomal sex assigned at birth”. Zinski, a devout Christian, is seeking relief and damages for the alleged discrimination.
