White Male Politicians Buttigieg, Walz, and Pritzker Attend Fundraiser Supporting Harris

The group White Dudes for Harris raised over $4 million for Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign during a virtual kickoff call with over 190,000 attendees. Organizers initially aimed for 10,000 RSVPs and $500,000 in donations. The event was organized in response to a perceived lack of representation of white men on the left, with the goal of preventing them from being drawn to the MAGA right. The campaign itself raised a total of $200 million in a week, with 66% of donors being first-time contributors.

Inspired by the success of Win with Black Women, the White Dudes for Harris call was part of a series of identity-based organizing efforts, including White Women: Answer the Call, which raised over $8 million and had over 164,000 attendees. The call featured prominent Democratic surrogates, including politicians potentially being considered as Harris’ running mate, such as Pete Buttigieg, JB Pritzker, and Tim Walz.

During the event, speakers emphasized the importance of getting involved and highlighted the significance of Harris potentially becoming the first Black woman to hold such a high office. Walz’s passionate speech, in particular, underscored the historic nature of the moment and encouraged attendees to take action to shape the future. The call demonstrated strong support for Harris and the enthusiasm among different identity groups for her candidacy.
