Athletics, hockey, tennis, and BMX were the highlights of the first day of sporting events at the Olympics. Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei set an Olympic record in the men’s 10,000m, winning gold. Australia’s Christopher Rühr scored twice to defeat Team GB in men’s hockey, while France swept the podium in the men’s BMX racing final. With many more events happening, the athletes are giving it their all to secure victory at the Games.
