Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign has made history with the best grassroots fundraising month ever in July. The campaign raised more in four days following President Biden’s endorsement than Trump’s campaign raised all month. Over 3 million donors made 4.2 million contributions, with 2 million being first-time donors. The majority of donations were under $200 and teachers and nurses were common donors. The campaign also saw a significant increase in donations from Gen Z and millennials. Various coalition groups raised over $20 million for Team Harris. Harris is expected to meet with top vice-presidential contenders, including governors and senators. She plans to campaign in seven states over five days, announcing her running mate by next Tuesday. Despite these successes, Harris still faces challenges, as evidenced by Donald Trump’s refusal to be fact-checked live at a recent conference, causing him to delay his appearance. Additionally, a new coalition called Rural Americans for Trump has been launched in response to the momentum gained by Harris’s campaign. The future of the presidential race remains unpredictable, with both candidates facing scrutiny and working hard to secure support.
