The Pacific Northwest is currently experiencing major wildfires, with over 1 million acres burned in Oregon and Washington. Governor Jay Inslee has issued an emergency proclamation for the state. There are 32 major fires in the region, with more than 9,000 people under evacuation notices in Oregon. Some of the major fires include the Durkee Fire, which has burned 295,000 acres and is 80% contained, and the Falls Fire which has burned 145,000 acres. The Monkey Creek Fire near the Oregon-Washington border has burned 113,902 acres and is 32% contained.
In Washington, the Pioneer Fire has burned 35,477 acres and is 12% contained, threatening structures. The Swawilla I Fire has burned 53,403 acres and is 85% contained, while the Retreat Fire has burned nearly 41,000 acres and is 40% contained. Evacuation notices have been issued for over 2,800 people in Washington due to the fires. The situation remains critical in both states as firefighters continue to battle the blazes and residents are urged to stay informed and follow evacuation orders.
