A fast-moving wildfire in San Bernardino, California, known as the Edgehill Fire, destroyed homes and forced evacuations on Monday. The fire started on Little Mountain and quickly spread, burning about 100 acres within a few hours. The San Bernardino County Fire Department issued evacuation orders for homes on the south side of the mountain. The area experienced high temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, with an excessive heat warning in place until Tuesday night. An investigation into the cause of the fire has begun.
The Edgehill Fire is just one of many wildfires currently burning in the western half of the country. The Park Fire in northern California has become the fourth largest fire in the state’s history, with over 400,000 acres burned and 640 structures destroyed. Additionally, over 30 major fires are burning in the Pacific Northwest, with fires in Oregon and Washington causing evacuations and threatening thousands of residents.
The situation is constantly evolving and officials are working to contain and extinguish the fires while ensuring the safety of those in affected areas. Please stay tuned for updates on this ongoing event.
