Democratic vice presidential pick Tim Walz, a Minnesota Governor, showcased his Midwestern roots at a rally in Nebraska as Democrats focus on gaining support from voters. Walz, who was recently chosen by Vice President Kamala Harris, held a solo rally in Nebraska’s Second Congressional District, a key battleground area. Having grown up in Nebraska, attended college there, served in the Army National Guard, and met his wife in the state, Walz emphasized his deep ties to Nebraska during the rally.
Both the Harris-Walz and Trump-Vance campaigns are vying for support in swing states, with Harris gaining ground in recent polls. The Second Congressional District, which has a history of flipping between Democratic and Republican candidates, could play a crucial role in the election outcome. Walz took aim at Vance, his opponent, during his speech, criticizing Vance’s background as a Yale-educated philosophy major.
Other speakers at the rally included Nebraska State Senator Tony Vargas and Preston Love Jr., who are both competing in tight races. Walz is scheduled to speak at the Democratic National Convention and will debate Vance on national television. With the election approaching, both campaigns are focusing on key battleground states like Nebraska to secure victory in November.
