Poland’s space industry achieved a significant milestone with the successful launch of the EagleEye satellite into Earth’s orbit. The project, which began in April 2020, is a collaboration between Creotech Instruments S.A., Scanway Sp. z o.o., and the Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The satellite will provide high-resolution images of the Earth for research and monitoring purposes.
The mission, facilitated by SpaceX, took place at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The satellite is expected to orbit the Earth at a low altitude, providing valuable data for at least one year. The control center for EagleEye is located at Creotech Instruments’ headquarters in Warsaw.
Dr. Barciński, a key figure in the project, highlighted the significance of this achievement, noting that it was not an easy feat. EagleEye was designed entirely in Poland, showcasing the country’s technological capabilities. While some components were sourced internationally, the satellite is equipped with advanced technology.
This successful launch marks a historic moment for Poland’s space industry, demonstrating the country’s potential in the field of space science and technology. The EagleEye satellite represents a step forward in Poland’s contributions to space research and monitoring efforts. With this milestone, Poland’s space industry is set to make further advancements and play a significant role in the global space community.
