Italian authorities have recovered the fifth body from the sunken yacht off the coast of Porticello, near Palermo, Sicily. The search for the sixth body is currently underway, with the hope of locating it today.
Dive teams from the fire brigade are conducting the search for the final missing body within the Bayesian vessel. Italian media has confirmed the identities of four of the victims recovered so far – Chris Morvillo, Neda Morvillo, Jonathan Bloomer, and Judy Bloomer. However, the bodies of Mike Lynch and his daughter Hannah are still unaccounted for at this time.
Giuseppe Petrone, the national director of Italy’s firefighting department divers, stated that they are actively working to recover the sixth body today. The head of Sicily’s civil protection agency, Salvatore Cocina, noted that the recovered bodies have been transported to Porticello’s pier.
The tragic incident involving the sinking of the yacht has shocked many, with high-profile individuals such as UK tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch and the Morgan Stanley International chair among those missing. Rescue personnel continue to work diligently to retrieve the remaining body and bring closure to the families of the victims.
