The remains of a woman found in a lake in southeastern Louisiana in 1986, known as “Lake Lady Jane Doe,” have been identified as 33-year-old Pamela Lee Hupp using new DNA technology. Hupp’s death was ruled a homicide, with the cause being asphyxia, and she was also pregnant at the time. Despite her identification, her killer remains unknown. Hupp’s story was featured on “America’s Most Wanted” and her skull was reconstructed to aid in the investigation. After years of DNA analysis and genealogy research, potential family members of Hupp were located in April 2023, leading to her identification. Born in April 1958, Hupp’s last known residence was in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, but it is unclear why she was in Louisiana at the time of her death or how she was killed. The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on Hupp’s case and asks anyone with information to contact them. Sheriff Randy Smith expressed gratitude for the efforts of investigators in identifying Hupp and is committed to finding and arresting those responsible for her death.
