Highmark West Virginia Charitable Fund Awards Over $100,000 to Local United Ways
PARKERSBURG, WV – In a show of continued support for community initiatives, the Highmark West Virginia Charitable Fund for Health has awarded a total of $102,000 to various United Way organizations across the state, marking the fourth consecutive year of funding. This initiative has now contributed $404,000 since its inception.
The funding was formally announced last week, with representatives from the United Way agencies receiving checks at a small gathering. Each of the three primary recipients—the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley, United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley, and United Way of Central West Virginia—each received $25,000. Meanwhile, several other United Way agencies received $3,000 each, aimed at addressing critical needs within their respective communities.
Jim Fawcett, president of Highmark West Virginia, expressed pride in the ongoing collaboration with United Way agencies. "We are delighted to contribute to the important work of United Way organizations across the Mountain State, helping them to create positive change in the lives of families and residents," he stated. Fawcett emphasized that the funding aligns with Highmark’s commitment to enhancing the health and quality of life for individuals in all 55 counties of West Virginia.
Since launching in 2021, the Highmark West Virginia Charitable Fund for Health has provided over $6 million in grants to nonprofits throughout the state. As a restricted fund of the Highmark Foundation, its mission focuses on improving overall health and well-being across West Virginia.
This latest round of grants is anticipated to bolster community support and resources for families, reaffirming Highmark’s dedication to making a tangible difference in the region.
