Season-Opening Victory for WVU Rowing’s Collegiate Double

The West Virginia University rowing team kicked off its fall season at the 54th Annual Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia. Despite a disappointing performance from the eights, the Women’s Collegiate Double, consisting of Nikolina Djordjevic and Ksenia Kaludjerovic, secured a first-place finish. Coach Jimmy King expressed his disappointment with the overall team performance but remains optimistic about the potential of the young team for the upcoming spring season.

In the Women’s Championship 4s with coxswain category, WVU had four entries that all finished in the top half of the division. The best finish came from Adriana Hogan, Lauren Mueller, Kate Conard, Samantha Krankowski, and coxswain Grace Fay, who placed 15th out of 76 competitors. The team also finished 21st out of 48 boats in the Women’s Club Championship 8s.

The Mountaineers finished the day with the Women’s Championship 8s, where they secured 20th place. The team of Mueller, Hogan, Violet Hewett, Alanna Dunnigan, Teegan Wendley, Conard, Krankowski, Alexis Mitchell, and coxswain Grace Terlion put up a strong effort.

Looking ahead, WVU will face Duquesne in Pittsburgh on November 9. Despite the challenges faced in the fall regatta, the team is focused on improving their efficiency on the water. Full results from the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta can be found on the team’s website.
