Tech mogul Elon Musk recently made bold claims about Tesla’s robotaxi at a Hollywood backlot event where Optimus robots were revealed to be humans in disguise. In other tech news, a new method to send messages via satellite on iPhone or Pixel devices was also discussed. The US is now considering the breakup of Google in a historic Big Tech antitrust case, while hackers have been able to take control of robovacs to chase pets and say offensive things.
On the legal front, more than a dozen states have filed lawsuits against TikTok, alleging that the platform harms children and is designed to be addictive. The lawsuits have been criticized as grandstanding, with the main complaint being that kids simply enjoy using TikTok. In more positive news, two scientists have received the Physics Nobel for their work in machine learning, while three other scientists have been awarded the Chemistry Nobel for their research on proteins.
Meanwhile, there has been renewed speculation about the identity of Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto, as well as discussions about a UK treaty that could potentially lead to the end of the .io domain. On a lighter note, Nintendo’s new Alarmo alarm clock and Samsung’s plan to turn Galaxy phones into smart door keys were also highlighted.
