Congressional scrutiny over former Florida U.S. Representative Matt Gaetz, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for attorney general, continues as some Senate Republicans are calling for the House Ethics Committee to share its investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. Gaetz has been under investigation since taking office in 2017, including a three-year Justice Department investigation into sex trafficking allegations that did not result in criminal charges. Despite this, he has the support of Trump’s allies and his wife, Ginger Luckey Gaetz.
Matt and Ginger Luckey Gaetz met at a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago in 2020, got engaged nine months later, and eloped in a small ceremony on Catalina Island in 2021. Ginger, who studied accounting, has worked for Apeel and KPMG, and is the younger sister of Palmer Luckey, the founder of Oculus VR.
While Ginger has not publicly addressed her husband’s scandals, her sister Roxanne Luckey has referred to Gaetz as “weird and creepy” and a “literal pedophile” in TikTok videos. Roxanne’s comments have been dismissed by the Gaetz family, who claim she is “unwell” and “estranged.”
Gaetz continues to deny all allegations against him, as he receives criticism and scrutiny from both lawmakers and the public regarding his nomination for attorney general.
