Daily Crime Report Highlights Recent Incidents in Arlington County
Arlington, VA – November 21, 2024 – The Arlington County Police Department released its daily crime report, detailing significant criminal incidents from November 20. The report provides a snapshot of local crime but is not exhaustive of all police activities.
One notable incident involved an assault on police. Around 1:04 p.m. in the 1600 block of 18th Street N, officers responded to a report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, they found a male victim being chased by a suspect wielding a knife. Despite commands from police, the suspect resisted arrest and attempted to strike an officer. Following a struggle, he was detained, and a knife was recovered. Brian Driver, 46, of Arlington, has been charged with multiple offenses, including assaulting a law enforcement officer and public intoxication, and is held without bond.
Another incident reported was a robbery at a business on S. Joyce Street, where a male suspect attempted to steal merchandise and physically forced his way past loss prevention personnel at approximately 5:03 p.m. Officers are currently searching for the suspect, described as a Black male in all black clothing.
Additional incidents include an attempted malicious wounding reported by a victim who was struck with a rock while sitting outside on Clarendon Boulevard. The suspect remains unidentified.
The police report also noted several other crimes, including larcenies, assaults, and reports of stolen vehicles throughout the county.
