The West Virginia Volleyball team faced off against No. 19 Utah in Salt Lake City on Thursday evening, resulting in a three-set loss for the Mountaineers. This defeat marked their seventh consecutive loss, with five of them being scoreless. Despite starting strong in the first set, West Virginia couldn’t maintain their momentum, ultimately losing 17-25. The second and third sets followed a similar pattern, with Utah dominating and taking the win 15-25 and 16-25, respectively.
Senior Hailey Green led the attack with 39 kills, while graduate student Lauren DeLo provided 20 assists. The Mountaineers continue to struggle offensively with key player Cassidy Tanton out due to a leg injury. Looking ahead, West Virginia aims to break their losing streak as they face off against No. 24 BYU on Saturday afternoon.
The match against Utah was the first meeting between the two teams, and although the Mountaineers showed moments of strength, they ultimately couldn’t match the Utes’ power on the court. The team remains determined to bounce back and secure a much-needed win in their upcoming matchup. West Virginia fans are hopeful that the Mountaineers can turn things around and finish the season strong.
