Whiskey, a 4-month-old Labrador mix, survived a plane crash that killed pilot Seuk Kim while transporting three dogs from Maryland to New York. The crash occurred on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of Kim and another dog named Lisa. Whiskey suffered two broken legs and underwent surgery at Pieper Veterinary Hospital in Middletown. Despite his injuries, hospital staff described Whiskey as a “little miracle puppy” with an amazing spirit. Another survivor, 1.5-year-old Pluto, was evaluated at Capital District Veterinary Hospital and released to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley after sustaining pulmonary contusions and bruising. Kim was involved in rescuing and transporting dogs to safe homes through nonprofit organizations, leaving behind a wife and three teenage children. Donations have been raised to support his family and cover funeral costs, with a celebration of life event planned for December 5 in Fairfax, Virginia. Whiskey and Pluto’s recovery progress is being shared by the veterinary hospitals, and updates will continue to be provided. The story of these courageous dogs and the tragic incident have touched many hearts, highlighting the importance of animal rescue efforts.
