New Zealand has denied a visa application from conservative media personality Candace Owens, citing a rule that bars applicants who have been excluded from another country. Owens had a speaking tour scheduled in New Zealand and Australia, but Australian Immigration Minister Tony Burke canceled her visa in October, citing concerns that she could incite discord. Owens, a far-right commentator with a history of spreading antisemitic rhetoric, including Holocaust denial and revisionism, plans to appeal Australia’s decision and has accused the country of denying her visa before she even applied. Owens has also faced suspension from the YouTube Partner Program for violating ad-friendly and community guidelines. She has responded to the denial of her visa with accusations that she is being portrayed as a “scary person akin to Adolf Hitler.” Despite the setback, Owens remains determined to pursue legal action and continue her speaking engagements.
