Anthony Becht to interview for West Virginia coaching position

Former NFL player and current head coach of the St. Louis Battlehawks, Anthony Becht, has interviewed for the head coaching job at West Virginia University. Becht, who played for five years at West Virginia as a tight end, could potentially make the move from the professional to the college football realm. The interview was conducted over Zoom, and it is unknown if Becht will be called for an in-person interview.

There is speculation about the return of Rich Rodriguez, who left West Virginia 17 years ago to coach at Michigan. Rodriguez, who was fired from both Michigan and Arizona for various reasons, has spent the last three seasons as the head coach at Jacksonville State. Becht’s son, Rocco, is also involved in college football as the starting quarterback at Iowa State.

The West Virginia head coaching position became available after Neal Brown was fired after six seasons with the team. Becht’s potential candidacy for the job has sparked interest and conversation among local football fans. With his experience as a player at West Virginia, as well as his current coaching position, Becht could bring a unique perspective to the college football program. Stay tuned for updates on Becht’s potential transition from the NFL to college football coaching.
