Nikki Giovanni, the beloved poet, author, educator, and public speaker known for her candid takes on issues ranging from racism to space travel, has passed away at the age of 81. Giovanni, who was the subject of the award-winning 2023 documentary “Going to Mars,” died on Monday with her partner Virginia Fowler by her side.
