The Winston-Salem State University women’s basketball team is gearing up to open conference play against Virginia Union University on Thursday, December 12th at the C.E. Gaines Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Lady Rams will be looking to end a losing streak against the Panthers, who have dominated the series since 2006.
With six returning players and several talented newcomers, the Rams are excited about their prospects this season. Junior Jakaiya Mack, who was named to the All-CIAA Preseason Team, will be a key player to watch. The team is led by leading scorer Christiana McLean and will be looking to improve on their last game against High Point University.
On the other hand, Virginia Union University comes into the game with a 6-3 record and is led by Taniyah Greene and Nevaeh Reaves. The Panthers are averaging 67.4 points per game and will be a tough test for the Rams.
After the game against Virginia Union, the women’s team will host Bowie State University on Tuesday, December 17th. Additionally, all December home games will have free entry with a canned good donation.
