Hutchinson’s Career Day Falls Short in Comeback Attempt Against West Virginia State

Wheeling University Men’s Basketball team faced a tough loss to West Virginia State, despite a strong second-half comeback effort. Down by seven points at halftime, the Cardinals exploded for 50 points in the second half, led by career-high performances from S.J. Hutchinson and Sean Ealy. Hutchinson scored 22 points, while Ealy added 20 points and three assists. Despite their efforts, the Cardinals fell short and took their third Mountain East Conference (MEC) loss of the season.

The game was a back-and-forth battle, with the Cardinals trying to overcome the strong West Virginia State offense. Wheeling shot nearly 50% in the second half, but the Yellow Jackets’ 59% shooting percentage proved to be enough to seal the victory. Hutchinson and Ealy led the offensive charge, while Alex Smith and Tee Harris Jr. contributed on the defensive end with eight rebounds each.

Despite the loss, the Cardinals showed resilience and fought hard until the final buzzer. The team will look to bounce back as they hit the road to face Charleston on December 14th at 4 PM. Wheeling University Men’s Basketball team is determined to turn things around and get back on the winning track in their upcoming games.
