Brian Ellis was a dedicated and respected leader from an early age, winning the Georgia state high school football championship in 1987 and serving as his team’s starting quarterback in 1988. After graduation, he attended the U.S. Naval Academy on a football scholarship and went on to have a successful career in the U.S. Marine Corps as a helicopter pilot and instructor.
Ellis maintained strong friendships throughout his life, forming a close bond with three classmates at the Naval Academy who became known as “the four musketeers.” This friendship endured through their time in the Marine Corps, where Ellis and his friends trained together and supported each other in their careers.
In his later years in the Marine Corps, Ellis managed public remarks and messaging for the Commandant of the Marine Corps and led a team focused on implementing Red Teaming, a process for identifying risks and problem-solving. After retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2015, he joined Deloitte and was traveling on business at the time of his death.
Ellis is remembered fondly by his friends, classmates, and colleagues as a great friend, leader, father, and coach. He is survived by his wife, two sons, parents, and siblings. His dedication to teamwork and commitment to service left a lasting impact on those who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.
