Octogenarian Lynn Nelson’s love for travel has kept her on the move throughout her life, from childhood stamp collecting to exploring over 50 countries. Despite limited family travel, she found a connection to the world through stamps and atlases, leading to a lifetime of exploration.
Starting with domestic trips with her husband for work, Nelson’s travels expanded internationally after discovering Road Scholar, where she has taken 24 trips. After her husband’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis, Nelson continued to travel solo, including a bucket-list trip to Africa.
Reflecting on her experiences, Nelson encourages women to explore independently and pass down a love for traveling. Through her adventures, she has gained a greater appreciation for different cultures and the world around her.
As she continues to add memories to her passport, Nelson plans to keep traveling indefinitely, seeing each new destination as an opportunity for learning and growth. Despite the clock ticking, she does not plan to wait to explore the many places she still wants to see.
