West Virginia’s Winning Streak Reaches 11 Games

The West Virginia University baseball team continues their winning streak with an 11-1 victory over Queens (N.C.) on Sunday, marking their 11th straight win to start the season. This achievement is the fourth best start in program history and the longest winning streak since 2008. Senior Grant Hussey led the team with three hits, including a home run and three RBI, while senior Brodie Kresser contributed his first home run of the season. Junior Gavin Van Kempen earned the win by pitching 5.0 innings with five strikeouts.
Queens took an early lead in the game, but West Virginia quickly responded with a home run from Hussey to tie the score. The Mountaineers then took the lead and never looked back, with Rinehart’s three-run double in the seventh inning sealing the victory. Kresser added another home run in the eighth inning, bringing his weekend total to eight hits.
The team will look to complete a four-game sweep on Monday in Charlotte. West Virginia remains one of only eight undefeated teams in the 2025 season. For more updates on the Mountaineers, follow @WVUBaseball on social media platforms.
