79-year-old killed in Rockbridge County crash, VSP reports


A tragic two-vehicle crash in Rockbridge County, Virginia resulted in the death of a 79-year-old woman. The crash occurred on Route 11 at the intersection of Pine Forest Road on Saturday at 11:20 a.m. The Virginia State Police reported that a 2005 Toyota 4-Runner failed to yield the right-of-way while turning onto Route 11 from a stop sign on Pine Forest Road, resulting in a collision with a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 that was traveling south on Route 11.

The driver of the Toyota, identified as Patricia Ann Bane of Lexington, was wearing her seatbelt and sadly passed away at the scene. The 40-year-old driver of the Dodge, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Virginia State Police stated that no charges are pending at this time, and the crash remains under investigation.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of obeying traffic laws and wearing seatbelts while driving.
