Virginia City is gearing up for its 34th annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry, set to take place on Saturday, March 15. This unique event, known for its savory Rocky Mountain Oyster dishes, St. Paddy Made Me Do It Saloon Crawl, parade, costume contests, and live Irish music, is one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the west. Attendees can also participate in competitions to showcase their creativity in preparing this delicacy, with awards for ‘Best Of’ and ‘People’s Choice’.
According to Todd Tuttle, tourism director for Virginia City, the Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry is more than just a food festival – it’s a celebration of community tradition and creativity. Chefs will be serving up their most daring and delicious renditions of Rocky Mountain Oysters, with categories like ‘Best Overall’ and ‘Most Creative’ for attendees to sample and vote on. The event also includes a St. Paddy Made Me Do It Saloon Crawl starting at 11 a.m., featuring specialty drinks and designated drivers for a safe experience.
The day culminates in a St. Patrick’s Day Parade on C Street at noon, where attendees are encouraged to wear festive attire and participate in the costume contest.
