HUD offers disaster assistance and financial resources for West Virginia as it recovers from storms.


The Department of Housing and Urban Development announced that West Virginia will receive federal disaster assistance following severe storms, flooding, and landslides that hit the state last month. The aid includes a 90-day moratorium on mortgage foreclosures, an extension for Home Equity Conversion Mortgages, and FHA insurance for disaster victims. This assistance aims to help residents rebuild their homes, neighborhoods, and businesses that were affected by the natural disaster. The storms, which occurred on Feb. 15, resulted in several deaths, damaged infrastructure, and caused widespread flooding. Gov. HUD also pledged to connect residents with housing counseling agencies to assess their needs and inform them of available resources.
