West Virginia appoints Ross Hodge as new coach | Sports Report

West Virginia has reached a five-year agreement with North Texas coach Ross Hodge, according to a report from CBS Sports. Hodge is set to join the Mountaineers in Morgantown once the Mean Green’s season comes to an end. North Texas is currently competing in the NIT and Hodge has led the team to a 27-8 record in his two seasons as head coach. He took over from Grant McCasland in 2023 and has had a successful tenure in Denton, Texas. This will be Hodge’s first time coaching at the D-I level after previously coaching at the junior college level.

Hodge will be replacing Darian DeVries, who recently left West Virginia after just one season to join Indiana. Hodge has a connection to West Virginia’s athletic director Wren Baker, who was previously at UNT before moving to the Mountaineers. West Virginia chose not to participate in the NIT after missing out on the NCAA Tournament. This coaching change comes as part of a new era for the Mountaineers and Hodge’s arrival is highly anticipated. Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops.
