Boys & Girls Club of the Eastern Panhandle Member Named West Virginia State Youth of the Year
Sydney B. from the Boys & Girls Club of the Eastern Panhandle has been named the West Virginia State Youth of the Year. The event took place at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Charleston and celebrated exceptional young leaders who have shown outstanding leadership, academic excellence, community involvement, and a dedication to a healthy lifestyle. Sydney B. was awarded a $2,500 scholarship from Boys & Girls Clubs of America and a $1,000 scholarship from the Boys & Girls Clubs of West Virginia Area Council.
Sydney B. will now move on to compete in the Midwest Regional Youth of the Year competition, with an opportunity to advance to the national level. Additionally, Hadleigh F. from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Parkersburg was named West Virginia Jr. Youth of the Year.
The program provided participants with leadership training, networking with state officials, and a formal judging competition. Youth finalists shared their personal stories and the impact that Boys & Girls Clubs has had on their lives. The event was sponsored by Wellpoint West Virginia, reaffirming their commitment to youth development.
Sydney B. will serve as an ambassador for Boys & Girls Club youth across the state and participate in community events and activities. The Youth of the Year program aims to empower young people to achieve their full potential through mentorship, education, and support. Community leaders from across the state attended the event, highlighting the incredible resilience and potential of West Virginia’s young leaders.
