Patron Mexican Restaurant Under Fire After Disturbing Encounter
Sandston, Virginia, April 27 – A customer’s unsettling experience at Patron Mexican Restaurant and Cantina has ignited safety concerns, prompting scrutiny over the establishment’s health standards. Carletta Andrews visited the local eatery on April 16 for what she expected to be a relaxing dinner with her husband. However, her evening took a shocking turn when she discovered a baby snake in her margarita.
“I leaned in to take a sip and something hit my forehead. When I turned around, I saw the snake in my drink,” Andrews recounted. The creature had wrapped itself around her straw, leading to a chaotic scene as staff attempted to remove it with a stick. Ultimately, it was another patron who managed to escort the snake outside.
“I left shaking. I was traumatized,” Andrews stated, expressing concern that the snake’s presence could signal more reptiles hiding within the restaurant. “Is the mom there?” she pondered.
In response, the restaurant’s owner suggested that the snake likely entered through the air conditioning unit, admitting that no additional preventive measures were in place to ensure such an incident wouldn’t occur again.
Further compounding the restaurant’s troubles, health inspection records from December 2024 revealed multiple violations, including mold, broken hardware, and a missing ceiling tile, though these issues were resolved within a week.
Patron Mexican Restaurant and Cantina, which has locations in Sandston and Chester, has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the incident or the resurfacing of their health code violations. The event has left patrons questioning the safety standards at the popular dining destination.
