Virginia Woman Finds Snake in Margarita at Local Restaurant
SANDSTON, VA – A night out took an unexpected turn for Carletta Andrews when she discovered a baby snake in her margarita at the Patron Mexican Restaurant and Cantina on April 16. Andrews visited the restaurant with her husband for a pleasant evening, but her experience quickly became unforgettable.
“I leaned in to take a sip, and something hit me on the forehead,” Andrews recounted. Confused, she looked at her husband before turning around to find the slithering creature in her drink. Shockingly, the snake was not only in her margarita but also writhing around her straw.
Attempts to remove the snake were made using a stick, but they were unsuccessful. Ultimately, another diner intervened and took the snake outside. “I left shaking; I was traumatized,” Andrews said, noting that although the restaurant offered to relocate her, she chose to leave instead.
Andrews expressed concerns about the potential presence of more snakes, questioning whether the mother might be nearby. The restaurant’s owner suggested that the snake likely entered through the air conditioning unit but did not indicate any preventive measures to avoid future incidents.
An inspection report from the Virginia Department of Health revealed that the restaurant had previously faced several violations, including mold and missing ceiling tiles. Although these issues were addressed promptly, Andrews is left uneasy about the establishment.
The Patron Mexican Restaurant and Cantina has two locations in Virginia but has not responded formally to inquiries regarding the incident. As for Andrews, the shocking encounter has made her think twice about returning to the restaurant.
